Decoding the Distinction: Unraveling the Difference Between EE Conveyor Belt and EP Conveyor Belt

We know that the EP conveyor belt has dominated the fabrics conveyor belt for almost 50 years, the EP fabrics structure is polyester in the longitudinal direction and nylon in the transverse direction, it is characterized by small elongation, high elasticity, impact resistance, and large load capacity. Due to the stable performance of EP fabrics, the conveyor belt with EP fabric as the carcass is widely used in heavy duty bulk material conveying fields, accounting for almost 70-80% of the heavy-duty fabrics conveyor belt.

But recently, a conveyor belt called EE fabrics has gradually appeared in the market, due to its obvious price advantage, it is competing with EP conveyor belts in the huge bulk material conveying market, so what is the difference between this EE fabrics and EP fabrics? Will it have an impact on the EP conveyor belt market or even replace the EP conveyor belt in the future?

EE is the abbreviation of Polyester-Polyester, it is a fabric with polyester warp and filling yarns, it has the following advantages:

1.EE fabric has HMLS(High modulus low stretch) polyester yarns in both warp and weft direction.

2.EE fabric can reach even exceed the same physical & thermal properties as EP fabric.

3.EE fabric is impervious to moisture, has low elongation and high strength

4.EE fabric has ideal transverse stiffness

But similarly, the disadvantage of EE conveyor belt is also very obvious, the use of totally polyester (EE) fabric compromises a whole range of essential mechanical properties. The biggest danger is that a polyester weft can cause low transverse elasticity, which reduces both the toughness and impact resistance of the belt and also causes tracking issues. In addition, less weft in the belt can also reduce rip resistance, faster strength and the ability to cope with small pulley sizes. The seriousness of the detrimental physical effects for the end- users are therefore huge. One test witnessed recently revealed that the tensile strength of the carcass was more than 20% lower than the specified minimum.

But EE conveyor belt still has an absolute advantage, that is the price, the price of EE fabrics is about 30% lower than that of EP conveyor belt, so the overall price of the conveyor belt will be about 10% lower than that of EP conveyor belt, which is low enough to attract customers with limited budgets to consider purchasing EE conveyor belts.

But the serious problem is that because there is no obvious difference in appearance between EE and EP fabrics, this has led the conveyor belt manufacturer to adopt a deceptive method, that is, to sell EE conveyor belt as EP conveyor belt, and get the difference price from it. This behavior should be strongly condemned!

In short, EE conveyor belt has its own obvious advantages and disadvantages. For customers who do not have high environmental requirements for conveyor belts and have limited budgets, EE conveyor belts are a good choice.
