Improved method of parallel idler in belt conveyor

Belt conveyor is a general-purpose series of products, widely used in metallurgy, coal, mining, ports, petroleum and chemical industries, etc., single or multiple units combined transport system to transport materials. The universal belt conveyor is composed of conveyor belt, conveyor idler, conveyor pulley and driving, braking, tensioning, redirecting, loading, unloading and cleaning devices. It has the characteristics of simple structure, reliable operation, strong transportation capacity, low transportation cost and easy maintenance.

During the use of the parallel conveyor idler and rollers of the belt conveyor, due to direct contact with the material, surface corrosion and belt slippage occur, local running resistance increases, and transportation costs are too high. The article focuses on the problems existing in the use of belt conveyors, and proposes an improvement of parallel idlers and rollers.

2 Improvement of parallel conveyor idlers

The conveyor idler is an important part of the belt conveyor. It is a device that supports the conveyor belt and the materials on it and ensures the stable operation of the conveyor belt. The conveyor idler is divided into parallel idler, grooved idler, self-aligning idler and impact idler.

2.1 Structure of parallel conveyor idlers

The structure of the parallel roller is shown in Figure 1. A set of rolling bearings are inlaid in the inner holes at both ends of the steel tube of the roll body, and the idler shaft traverses the entire parallel idler. Both ends of the shaft protrude beyond the steel pipe, and both sides of the shaft are provided with flat slot, which are fixed on the belt conveyor through the hanging ears or brackets to support the conveyor belt. The rollers are divided into ordinary type and heavy type according to the bearing capacity. Each conveyor idler diameter corresponds to 2 to 3 shaft diameters. All adopt large clearance bearings and ensure that the speed of all rollers does not exceed 600r / min.




2.2 Problems

If the material viscosity is high, the temperature is high, or the cleaning effect of the cleaner is not good, the parallel conveyor idler will increase the frictional resistance and cause severe wear, which will increase the transportation cost. The seamless steel pipe used to manufacture parallel  conveyor idlers often has uneven wall thickness. Parallel  conveyor idlers made with this seamless steel pipe will have serious eccentricity when it works, which makes parallel  conveyor idler occur when the belt conveyor is running. Abnormal noise, accompanied by periodic vibration.

2.3 Improved methods

Method 1: Improve the structure of the original parallel  conveyor idler. Reduce the contact surface area between the cylinder wall of the parallel roller and the conveyor belt, and change the steel tube of the parallel roller into several slip rings. The slip ring and the spacer are alternately arranged, and are integrated by a bolt. The inner holes of the slip rings at both ends are also inlaid with rolling bearings to support the  conveyor idler shaft, and a shaft pin is also provided on the roller shaft for the axial positioning of the  conveyor idler. The slip ring is usually made of stainless steel. If it is used in a less corrosive environment, ordinary carbon steel or nylon rod can also be used. The number of slip rings can be determined according to the width of the belt conveyor. The shaft, stop and screws can be made of carbon steel.

Method 2: Evenly covering and sticking a layer of nylon cloth on the surface of the original parallel conveyor idler can also extend the service life of the parallel  conveyor idler to a certain extent.
